Training Program

Each year, we will select a new cohort of students with strong interest in social change at colleges and high schools across Benin. Under the supervision of our specialized partners, coaches provide our students with a 3-year cycle of training and experiential learning that takes place on weekends and during school breaks, to build skills in the following areas:

For the 2020-2021 academic year, we will select 30 students into our first cohort of trainees. These are young girls and boys graduating from two middle schools in a rural community in Southern Benin.

We are hoping to partner with organizations and individuals specialized in youth empowerment, coaching in leadership and personal development, community development, civic engagement, and youth entrepreneurship and innovations.

If you are an organization or an individual willing to join our Training Team, please contact us and indicate the role you are interested in: TOT Organization, Senior Coach position, or Junior position.

Senior Coach

You can join our team as a Senior Coach if you possess experience in adult or youth training in the areas of leadership, civic engagement, personal development, and entrepreneurship. As a senior coach, you will have two roles. First, during every summer (June-September), you will help train our newly recruited high school teachers to become coaches. Your second role as a senior coach is to train our college students every year between October and May.

In order to become a senior coach, you must first undergo a Trainer of Trainers (TOT) training provided by our partners. Our senior coaches are paid according to predetermined rates. They can also volunteer and work pro Bono.

To apply for a senior coach position, you must:

  • Have at least 2 years of teaching, training, and/or coaching experience;
  • Be a passionate and dedicated individual who is committed to training others to become successful coaches.

Junior Coach

You can join us as a Junior Coach. In this capacity, you will be trained by our senior coaches under the supervision of our partnering organizations. After your training, you will be put in charge of a group of students selected in the community where you hold a teaching position. You will be paid according to predetermined rates. To apply, you must:

      • Be a teacher serving in a community covered by Echelle-Benin
      • Be passionate about social change
      • Be willing to work on weekends and during school breaks.
